Blast kills at least 8, injures dozens at Pakistan market

An explosion rocked a market in Pakistan's tribal region Monday, killing at least eight people and wounding dozens more, officials said.
The blast occurred when a vehicle armed with explosives and loaded with fruit was remotely detonated, said Javed Khan, a government official in upper Kurram Agency. At least eight people were killed in the explosion, he said, which may have been targeting Shiite Muslims.
Sadiq Khan, a doctor in the town of Parachinar, where the explosion took place, said 62 injured victims and 10 bodies were brought to the hospital after the blast.
Kurram Agency is one of seven districts in Pakistan's tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
