Usain Bolt backs himself to defend 200m men's Olympic title

THE final piece of Usain Bolt's legend puzzle has begun to take shape.
After winning the 100m in a stunning Olympic record time, the Jamaican superstar refused to accept the status of legend of the sport until he defends his 200m crown.

That process started without a hitch in the opening round with Bolt once again winning the heat with ridiculous ease in 20.39sec.

He was at his casual best, joking around on the start line with his trademark 'Lightning Bolt' salute.

When the gun went it was all business and he steamed around the bend of the Olympic stadium, shutting down with 70m around, jogging to the line, looking around at the crowd and his rivals in the process.

"I'm always happy," he said. "I love the 200m and I'm always playful and just enjoying."

He said he didn't feel fatigued from the 100m and all the celebrations and media commitments that came with being the Olympic champion again.

"I try to do my part," he said. "I know what comes with winning and the success and I've just got to try and enjoy it."
