Oyo ACN challenges Obasanjo to debate on corruption

The Oyo State branch of the Action Congress of Nigeria has challenged former President Olusegun Obasanjo to a public debate with its leader and former governor of the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, on corruption.
The debate will also determine which of the two men is relevant in the present democratic dispensation.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Friday by its Publicity Secretary in Oyo, Mr. Dauda Kolawole, the party reacted to the former president’s alleged comments on Adesina’s relevance in office.
It said the former president was losing credibility daily in a country that he had ruled two times and then, challenged him to explain the source of his wealth.
The statement read in part: “The same anti-corruption institutions established by Obasanjo were gaping with complicity while the regime he headed distributed our hard-earned patrimony to legislators to win a third term.
“It is a shame that rather than act like a statesman and admit his involvement in a project that would have burnt this country, Obasanjo denied that he held the patent of the venture.
“Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar first opened the lid of the character called Obasanjo. Through unassailable documents, he showed the whole world what the man was.
