President Goodluck Jonathan has asked Nigerians to expect the fulfillment of his campaign promises by in 2013.
The President said this on Thursday in
Onitsha, Anambra State where he inaugurated a number of government and
private sector projects.
The projects were the Orient Petroleum
refinery, Aguleri Otu; the Niger River Port at Onitsha; Sabmiller
Brewery, Onitsha; Krisoral Rollover Pilfer-Proof Caps factory, Onitsha;
Orange Drugs factory, Onitsha; and Government Lodge, Onitsha that was
rebuilt after the 2004 mayhem.
While commending Sabmiller and other
private sector investors in Nigeria for having faith in the country in
spite of the huge challenges of poor infrastructure, energy challenges
and insecurity, Jonathan promised that government would do all within
its power to encourage them.
“I want to promise you that we will change things to ensure that the private sector thrives,” he said.
The President added that the Federal
Government’s desire to boost private sector investment informed its
inclusion of some state governors like Peter Obi of Anambra State and
Muritala Nyako of Adamawa State as well as members of the private sector
in the National Economic team.
